Senior Human Resources Generalist

NWI Precision specializes in high-precision machining of helicopter masts, turbine shafts, engine thrust links, and nuclear pressure vessel components used in the aerospace and nuclear industries worldwide. NWI Precision's 120,000 sq. ft. facility is located at 9 Fenmar Drive in Toronto. Our dedicated team prides themselves on delivering the highest quality products, to specifications and on time. NWI Precision is currently seeking a Senior HR Generalist to join our team.
The Senior HR Generalist reports directly into the Director, Human Resources and will support the functional areas of employee relations, compensation, recruitment and selection, legal compliance employee communications, training, organizational development, payroll and other people-related programs across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for employee relations matters, providing support and guidance to employees and management.
- Oversee and manage all leave of absence cases, including those related to medical leave and Workers' Compensation (WSIB).
- Coordinate and manage employee events, working with other departments to ensure successful execution.
- Assist the Director of Human Resources with the performance review process and merit cycles, ensuring timely and accurate implementation.
- Manage and prioritize HR projects such as updating HR policies, automation/improving processes and procedures, and organizing comprehensive training sessions.
- Assist with developing and implementing employee training programs, onboarding new hires, and providing guidance to managers on training and development initiatives.
- Ensure HR practices and documents are compliant with all provincial and federal employment laws as well as export control and industry specific regulatory requirements (CGP, ITAR).
- Assist with full cycle employee recruitment/selection, onboarding and termination of employment processes.
- Assist with maintaining position descriptions for all occupations.
- Develop partnerships with colleges, universities, and training centers to establish apprenticeship programs and secure a skilled workforce pipeline in STEM and aerospace/nuclear trades.
- Assist with investigations, conflict resolution and mediate disputes for employee relations matters.
- Provide coaching and counsel to all employees on HR policy and procedures and compliance with provincial and federal employment law.
- Prepare and analyze metrics including headcount, retention, seniority levels, median age, turnover, compensation, labor market, and benefit cost to identify trends, improve processes, and report outcomes to senior management.
- Assist with implementing HR strategies to support overall business objectives and KPIs.
- Complete additional projects and responsibilities as required.
Key Performance Deliverables
Assist the Director, HR in efficient HR fundamentals and process (cost, quality, speed, customer satisfaction) and work in partnership with the business to support the implementation of performance improvement through increased employee productivity and engagement, specifically:
- Communicate business and organizational issues within the business
- Link business strategy to people implications and to HR deliverables
- Inform and educate stakeholders
- On Time Recruiting
- Training as per compliance department
- Succession plan and talent development continuous update and development
- Grow internal skillset of the organization
- Reduce turnover
- Align compensation to expectations
- Ensure compliance with Controlled Goods/ITAR employee requirements
- Measure employee engagement and implement retention strategies for critical roles
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or HR certification (e.g., CHRP) an asset.
- At least 5 years of human resources experience where at least 3 years is in a manufacturing environment
- Extensive knowledge of HR procedures and policies, particularly in payroll, benefits, and training.
- Knowledge of best practices in human resource management
- Knowledge of Canadian legal practices, employment and labor legislation and regulations.
- Strong decision-making, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Skills & Abilities:

- Proficient in HRIS systems (experience with Dayforce an asset) and MS Office.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, conflict resolution, negotiation skills and attention to detail.
- Comprehensive understanding of employment laws and compliance regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interaction with team members and other departments. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
