Position Overview:
The dispatcher is responsible for coordinating transportation operations, ensuring efficient dispatch, load scheduling, and driver communication. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining smooth logistics operations while ensuring compliance with safety and service standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming calls, address general inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate contacts.
  • Receive, verify, and log customer orders and dips in the Transportation Management Software (TMW) system.
  • Maintain driver schedules and communicate any variances to management.
  • Schedule loads efficiently, ensuring safety, customer service, and load optimization based on customer information in the TMW system.
  • Dispatch drivers with key details, including shift plans, plot plan information, TMW numbers, and truck/trailer assignments.
  • Confirm load deliveries and update the TMW system, accordingly, escalating any delays or changes to operations management.
  • Report all safety and service incidents to management.
  • Monitor and manage hours of service compliance.
  • Support the scheduling of required equipment maintenance in accordance with maintenance parameters.
  • Maintain a professional and collaborative work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Post-secondary education in supply chain and logistics, a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in the transportation industry (bulk tank dispatching experience is an asset).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Experience with TMW software is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new operating systems.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
