Academic Services is focused on supporting SAIT's schools and departments in their pursuit of SAIT's strategic priorities. Academic Services brings together several academic development, delivery, and quality assurance units with a common goal: student success. The Opportunity

We are currently hiring casual instructors to teach Communication and Liberal Arts Studies courses starting in Winter 2026. Subject matter domains include:

  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Business and technical writing
  • Capstone project

Most courses are scheduled to run as daytime offerings and can be scheduled Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Most courses are delivered in person at SAIT's main campus, with one course held at the Aero Centre. Reporting to the Academic Chair, Communication and Liberal Arts Studies, you have a passion for teaching diverse students, thrive on sharing knowledge, and enjoy coaching students to succeed and think critically. You will be responsible for teaching communication and interpersonal skills through an experiential (task-based) learning lens.

Note: SAIT, as a post-secondary institution, serves a diverse student population. Therefore, instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. If selected, specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.

The Role
    • Instruct Communication and Liberal Arts Studies courses
  • Prepare in-class and study materials for learners
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement providing timely, formative feedback
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
  • Stay abreast of emerging pedagogical issues and educational technologies
  • Attend department meetings and SAIT's instructor training program
Qualifications & Experience
    • Master's degree or higher in Communication Studies, English or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years' post-secondary teaching experience in a relevant discipline
  • Graduate education and/or work experience in adult education would be an asset
  • Good computer skills and experience teaching technology-enhanced courses are required
  • Subject-matter expertise in both written and verbal communication, presentations, teamwork, job search packages, networking, interpersonal skills, research methods
  • Proficiency with learning management systems, specifically D2L/Brightspace
  • Background in adult education
  • Ability to collaborate with Academic Chairs and faculty across SAIT
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues on the Communication and Liberal Arts Studies team
  • Expertise in a variety of teaching modalities including face-to-face, online, blended
