The Opportunity

The Student and Educator Services Unit of the Ministry of Education is seeking an innovative, results-oriented individualsto join our team as a Support Desk Specialist. This unit is responsible for administering the provincial legislation, regulations and policies with respect to Student and Educator Services in the Prekindergarten to Grade 12 school system.

As a member of a service-oriented team, you will maintain and support the official ministry system of record (Student Data System) and the sector provincial student information system (MySchoolSask/MonÉcoleSask). You will be responsible to:

• triage, respond to and escalate requests for application support;
• support XML file transfers and error resolution between systems;
• extract and analyze sector data imports for readiness and error resolution;
• contribute to the development and maintenance of application documents like training manuals, user guides and knowledge-based articles;
• train and educate users on applications as required;
• administer security access; and,
• advise on changes or enhancements to the provincial student information system.

• Have knowledge of information systems and the ability to use Excel competently for a variety of purposes including data validation, testing, tracking tasks.
• Have the ability to input, edit, update, retrieve, maintain, merge, compose, and format information using a variety of applications in a timely and accurate manner.

The qualifications and skills necessary for this position are generally acquired through completing a certificate or diploma in computer science or a related field, or through experience working with student information systems within the Prekindergarten to Grade 12 education system in Saskatchewan.
