The Housing Finance Division (Saskatchewan Housing Corporation) within the Ministry of Social Services, is accepting applications for a Financial Analyst.

Saskatchewan Housing Corporation (SHC) offers housing programs and services, leads the development of the provincial housing policy and manages financial contributions from the provincial, federal and municipal levels of government. SHC provides access to affordable, suitable and adequate housing. The Housing Finance Division, within the Ministry of Social Services, provides accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting support to SHC. We have an opportunity for a Financial Analyst in our Financial Services unit.
The Financial Analyst position will:
Provide accounting and financial support to ensure all financial information with regards to assets, liabilities, revenues and expenditures of SHC are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and public sector accounting board standards (PSAB). In addition, the Analyst should have experience in cash flow forecasting, third party funding tracking, safeguarding of assets and will be proficient in the use of information systems, such as JD Edwards financial software, CaseWare Working Papers, on-line banking applications, and Microsoft Office (including strong working knowledge of advanced spreadsheet functions).
To meet the financial and accounting challenges in this dynamic environment, analysts will have strong leadership, analytical, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and be exceptionally detail oriented, equipped with knowledge and experience in financial and accounting practices and procedures of:
- cash and debt management;
- accounts payable;
- GST filing;
- fixed asset accounting, account reconciliation;
- financial analysis and forecasting;
- third party funding pool tracking;
- revenue recognition, and
- generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and public sector accounting board standards (PSAB).
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through a business degree with an emphasis on financial accounting, and several years related practical accounting experience.
