Project Overview

The Government of Nova Scotia is implementing the Journeyperson Financial Incentive Program to support and accelerate growth in the skilled trades sector. This initiative provides financial incentives to qualified trades professionals, helping strengthen the province's workforce and promote long-term economic development.

Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Program Administrator to support the successful delivery of the Journeyperson Financial Incentive Program. The administrator will help manage applications, verify eligibility, coordinate communications, and ensure smooth program operations in alignment with government policies and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and process program applications for accuracy and eligibility.

  • Maintain applicant records and ensure data integrity across internal systems.

  • Communicate with journeypersons, training providers, and stakeholders regarding program status, requirements, and documentation.

  • Support financial incentive validation and approval workflows.

  • Prepare reports, summaries, and metrics for management as required.

  • Assist in developing and updating program materials, guidelines, and FAQs.

  • Ensure compliance with government policies, procedures, and privacy standards.

  • Provide general administrative support to the program team.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Office Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in administrative or program support roles (government, education, or workforce development experience an asset).

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database systems.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within provincial or federal government programs.

  • Knowledge of skilled trades or apprenticeship processes.

  • Understanding of financial incentive or grant administration workflows.

Sydney, Nova Scotia — onsite presence may be required depending on operational needs.

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
