Job Description

Our client, an established family-run group of companies based in Sydney, Nova Scotia, is seeking an experienced Controller to join their team. This is an exciting, permanent, and hands-on leadership role offering the opportunity to oversee accounting operations and contribute directly to the ongoing success of a respected local business.

Key Responsibilities for the Job: 

Oversee full-cycle accountingPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsManage payroll processing and related remittancesMonitor cash flow and lead budgeting and forecasting activitiesCoordinate year-end activities, including working with external accountants and auditorsSupervise and mentor accounting staffEnsure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in all financial reportingAssist with process improvements and system efficiencies as needed
Experience & Attributes for Success:
Proven experience in a similar, hands-on Controller roleCPA designation is considered an asset, but not requiredProficiency with Sage 50 (or similar accounting software)Proactive, collaborative leader with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellenceExcellent organizational and analytical skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities while leading a team
