Position Summary:  

The supervisor is responsible to lead and guide a team of employees by providing oversight of support services offered to youth aging out or have aged out of Child and Family Services. This role ensures First Nation youth and young adults have access to post-majority support services. The Post Majority Care Supervisor works closely with management to develop, implement, and evaluate service delivery aligned with organizational goals and policies. The Supervisor is also responsible for providing direct support and guidance to the Post Majority Navigators. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise and oversee daily operations of employees andprogram;
  • Review and approve youth case plans and financial claims, coordinating support meetings, overseeing life skills programming;
  • Review loan applications to ensure that services promote independence and self-sufficiency;
  • Develop, assess, andmonitorservice plans;
  • Coordinate "wrap-around" supports with community partners andmaintainupdated resource lists;
  • Support employee performance evaluations;
  • Fosterteam workand mentorship
  • Identifystaff training needs and contribute to program growth and improvement;
  • Jointly preparesfinancial support plans andbudgets;ensuring the program stays within budget;
  • Review and ensure that program expenses are within the parameters of the budget; 
  • Review financial claims and documentation;
  • Prepare andsubmitrequired reports to management and funding agencies;
  • Monitor, assess and review caseload and file information;
  • Responsible forreports,reporting and data collection methods;
  •  Promote health and well-being through the lens of an Indigenous world view;
  • Identifyneeds and address service gaps experienced by youth;
  • Is a key member of the team and may be asked to carry outadditionalduties and activities related to the effectiveness and successful implementation of the Well-Being Services program;
  • Other related duties asrequired

Working Environment:  

  • Ability to travel approximately 3 business daysper week to member communities.
  • Must be willing to work flexiblehours asrequired, which may include some evening and weekends.

Physical Demands: 

  • Some lifting & transport of childrenrequired;
  • Some lifting & transport of materialsrequiredfor program delivery

Related responsibilities include; ensuring workers and supervisors have the information, training, supervision and experience to do their job safely; ensuring that workplace injury/incident reporting is completed in a timely manner; supporting the OH&S Committee by involving the committee in health and safety activities, encouraging committee participation, and allocation time and resources; actively measuring and working to improve the health and safety performance of their unit/area by taking every reasonable precaution in the circumstances for the protection of employees and adhering to legislated safety policies and standards.
  • Identifiesobstacles and recommends best practice solutions to challenges. 

Education and Experience:  

  • Post-Secondary degree inIndigenous Social Work or SocialWorkorfrom an accredited post-secondary institution;
  • Three(3) years' child and family services supervisory experience;
  • Experience preparing budgets and reports;
  • Must be a member in good standing or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Work within 6 months of employment.
  • Experience workingwithin agovernance structure in a community development capacity with First Nations;familiarity with First Nations culture, history is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:  

  • Will have a sound understanding of the PostMajority SupportServicesprogram;
  • Mustdemonstratethe ability to plan, assess, and provide a high standard of delivery of care and services;
  • Strong organizationaland communication(verbal and written) skills;
  • Ability to engage effectively with youth, families, staff, management, and community partners.
  • Ability todevelopplans,supervise andmonitorperformance to effectively implementorganizational goals;
  • Ability to engage and encourage staff to work together as a team;
  • Ability to deal with conflict situations in a professional manner;
  • Knowledge of provincial child and family services legislation, regulations, policies and procedures and mitigating factors to ensure actions are legally compliant;
  • Ability to apply systematic, logical reasoning when addressing problems or situationsin order toarrive atan appropriate solutionor outcome;
  • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and driven, and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word,Outlookand PowerPoint with an ability to easily learn new software applications. 
  • Ability to deliver services through a holistic, family-systems, and culturally grounded framework.
  • Knowledge of the political,socialand economicobjectivesof the Saskatoon Tribal Council and of the Dakota, Cree, and Saulteaux cultures will be considered an asset.

Other Conditions:  

  • Mustpossessa valid Saskatchewan driver's license and meet STC's insurance requirements. 
  • Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) with vulnerable sector search as a condition of employment
