Job Overview

VIS Mechanical Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Journeyman HVAC/Refrigeration Technician to join our growing team in Victoria, BC. This role is ideal for experienced tradespeople who bring strong technical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work on a wide range of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems.

We are looking for professionals with a Refrigeration Journeyperson (Red Seal) ticket, a Gas B license, and who may also hold a Gas A license (considered an asset).

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across HVAC/R equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on refrigeration equipment in accordance with provincial codes and safety standards
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components connected to HVAC/R systems
  • Collaborate with project teams on renovations, system upgrades, and retrofits
  • Ensure full compliance with all WorkSafeBC, technical safety, and industry regulations
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, parts used, and recommendations
  • Provide high-quality, professional customer service when interacting with clients or contractors

Qualifications

Required

  • Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic (Red Seal)
  • Gas B Ticket
  • Minimum 3 years of HVAC/Refrigeration experience (4+ preferred)
  • Valid BC driver's license
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC/R systems, electrical components, and diagnostics
  • Ability to work independently or within a team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, and perform tasks in varying indoor/outdoor conditions
  • Commitment to safety, including PPE standards and regulatory compliance

Preferred / Assets

  • Gas A Ticket
  • Experience with commercial/industrial HVAC/R service work
  • Knowledge of digital diagnostic tools and service software
  • Strong communication and client-interaction skills

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay Range: $55 – $70 per hour, based on experience and ticketing

Work Schedule

  • Standard 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday

Relocation and Commute Requirement

  • Candidates must be able to reliably commute to Victoria, BC, or be willing to relocate prior to starting.
