$34.00 – $40.00 per hour, dependent upon experience, qualifications, and demonstrated technical ability.

Hours of Work & Overtime

  • This is a 40-hour per week full-time position
  • Overtime may be required from time to time based on operational needs
  • Overtime is paid after 44 hours per week, in accordance with Ontario Employment Standards legislation

Important – Read This First

This is a hands-on rental equipment technician role. In addition to mechanical and diagnostic work, this position includes cleaning equipment returned from customer jobsites, assisting with shop and yard organization, and helping ensure machines are safe, presentable, and rental-ready. Candidates must be comfortable working with dirty equipment, outdoors when required, and contributing wherever needed to support daily operations.

We are seeking a skilled Aerial Lift Technician to join our service team. This role is primarily shop-based, with some travel required for on-site diagnostics and repairs at customer locations.

Position Summary

The Aerial Lift Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and cleaning aerial lift and material-handling equipment to ensure it is safe, reliable, presentable, and rental-ready. The role includes preventative maintenance, troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, completing safety inspections, cleaning returned equipment, and accurately documenting all service work.

Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance, Repair & Equipment Preparation

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on aerial lift and material-handling equipment
  • Service hydraulic, DC electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Prepare equipment for rental, including cleaning machines returned from customer jobsites
  • Ensure equipment is safe, functional, and presentable prior to rental or redeployment

Diagnostics

  • Diagnose equipment issues using service manuals, wiring schematics, and hydraulic diagrams
  • Identify root causes of failures and recommend appropriate corrective actions

Safety & Compliance

  • Conduct safety inspections in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and industry standards
  • Ensure all equipment meets internal safety requirements before being returned to service

Documentation

  • Accurately complete service documentation, including work performed, parts used, inspections completed, and condition reports
  • Maintain clear, legible, and timely work orders

Shop & Field Support

  • Work primarily in a shop environment in Mississauga
  • Travel to customer job sites within the GTA as required for diagnostics and repairs
  • Assist with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining shop and yard areas
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Parts & Tools

  • Identify and look up parts using manufacturer manuals and supplier systems
  • Order required parts as needed
  • Maintain personal hand tools and assist with shop inventory organization

Equipment Worked On

  • Skyjack aerial lifts
  • Sinoboom and Zoomlion aerial equipment
  • Toyota forklifts and material-handling equipment

Qualifications & SkillsRequired

  • Strong working knowledge of hydraulic, DC electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Previous experience working with construction, industrial, or rental equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagrams
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including equipment cleaning
  • Valid Ontario G-Class Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both written and verbal, in English
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Preferred / Assets

  • Experience servicing aerial lifts or material-handling equipment
  • Familiarity with Skyjack, Sinoboom, Zoomlion, or Toyota equipment
  • Manufacturer training or certifications
  • Apprenticeship, trade certification, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Previous field service experience

Probationary Period

This position includes a three (3) month probationary period. Performance during this time will be evaluated based on technical ability, safety practices, reliability, quality of workmanship, documentation accuracy, and overall contribution to shop operations, including equipment cleaning and preparation.
