Job Summary

The Corporate Paralegal supports external counsel and Senior Management by drafting, reviewing, and managing construction-related contracts and legal documents. This role focuses on ensuring contractual compliance, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with risk management for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

· Draft, review, and organize letters of intent and construction contracts, subcontracts, amendments, change orders, purchase agreements, as well as documents for contentious matters, including instructions to external counsel

· Carrying out basic legal research and preparing short reference notes

· Assist internal and external counsel with contract negotiations and revisions

· Undertaking initial reviews and organization of documentation in respect to matters

· Ensuring the proper management of documents, including organising and managing electronic data sites, uploading documentation and making sure that documents are properly bundled, indexed and stored as appropriate

· Checking and proof-reading legal documents for quality, consistency and content

· Manage and track insurance policies, certificates, bonds, lien waivers, and other project-related documents

· Manage the opening and closing of project sites with municipal and/or government authorities

· Support compliance with federal, state, and local construction laws and regulations

· Assist with claims, disputes, RFIs, and litigation preparation (document collection, summaries, timelines)

· Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and external counsel regarding contract matters

· Perform legal research related to construction law, contract terms, and regulatory requirements

· Prepare correspondence, reports, and summaries for internal and external stakeholders

· Manage and renewals of all software licences and usager registrations

Required Qualifications

· Associate's or Bachelor's degree; Paralegal Certificate preferred

· 2+ years of paralegal experience, preferably in construction law, real estate, or commercial contracts

· Strong understanding of construction contracts and project documentation

· Proficiency with contract management systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

· Attention to detail

· Effective personal, organisational and time management skills, and the ability to juggle multiple demands and prioritise tasks

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels

· Common sense, commerciality and the ability to exercise sound judgement

· Strong IT skills with an interest in, or experience of, using technology to deliver work

· Determination to complete work with a high level of accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with contracts and other standard construction forms

· Familiarity with lien laws, bonding, and insurance requirements

· Experience supporting litigation and/or arbitration in construction disputes
