Responsibilities
- Safely loading the correct type and quantity of feed into the truck, often from a feed mill or storage facility.
- Driving the feed truck to designated locations, following a delivery schedule, and ensuring timely arrival.
- Accurately unloading feed into specified bins or areas on the farm or feedlot, following any specific instructions or biosecurity protocols.
- Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring the truck is in good working order, and reporting any maintenance needs.
- Communicating with supervisors regarding delivery schedules, any issues, or changes in delivery plans. Maintaining accurate delivery records.
- Adhering to all safety regulations related to driving, loading, and unloading feed, as well as complying with any relevant regulations for feed handling and transportation.
Requirements
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) as needed throughout the day.
- Experience or willingness to learn how to operate feed truck and farm machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and adapt to changing tasks as needed.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team are crucial for success in this role.
- Valid driver's license (class 1 or class 3 is an asset, but not required)
