**Key Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to)**:
- **Leadership & Reporting**: Attend manager meetings, share written reports, and contribute to process improvements. Address staff concerns and promote a productive work environment.
- **Willingness to Learn and Grow**: Willingness to take care of the team and the cattle, willingness to work with management.
- **Cattle Management**: Oversee pen moves, daily pen checks, cattle health, and ensure proper feed and water access. Coordinate receiving and shipping of cattle, including tracking and communicating data accurately.
- **Herd Health**: Manage hospital pens, treatment, and humane care of animals. Communicate with veterinarians and handle reporting for deceased animals. Ensure timely processing and implanting of new cattle.
- **Facility Maintenance**: Maintain cleanliness of barns, pens, and water bowls. Report and coordinate repairs for broken equipment or poor pen conditions.
- **Inventory Management**: Order and organize medications and supplies. Monitor inventory to prevent expiration and report issues with costly items.
- **Team Coordination**: Schedule and delegate tasks for feed and cattle staff, approve time-off requests, and provide training on best practices. Communicate staffing needs and collaborate across teams to optimize resources.
**Skills**:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to commute to work.
- Knowledge of cattle health, behavior, and effective stockmanship.
- Experience with herd management, treatment protocols, and implanting processes.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage daily schedules, and coordinate team efforts efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail for tracking cattle movements, health records, and inventory.
- Clear, professional communication with staff, management, veterinarians, and truck drivers.
- Ability to document and report issues promptly and accurately.
- Ability to identify and address health concerns, pen conditions, or logístical challenges.
- Capacity to identify and implement process improvements.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Flexibility to adjust plans based on shifting priorities, staffing needs, or unexpected challenges.
- Knowledge of ordering, storing, and monitoring veterinary supplies and medications.
**Schedule**: 11 days on, 3 days off
