Functions:
To assist in the set up and preparation for service of various items such as beverages, salads, desserts, etc.
Serve food to residents observing special diet restrictions, resident preferences in a professional and courteous manner
To set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required;
Clear tables, load and safely operate dishwasher. Complete manual ware washing as required
Complete departmental cleaning and ware washing as required
Adhere to established policies and procedures of the Retirement Home, RHRA, Public Health
To assist with catering, and actively participate in special occasions and theme events
To assist in the orientation and training of new dietary employees
To be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote it
Collaborate with other departments
Provide exceptional customer service
To attend in-service training as required in order to better serve the needs of the residents
To attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in Residence that have taken place
Qualifications:
Completion of a recognized Food Handler training program
Food service experience necessary - service, dishwashing, food handling, customer service
Familiar with WHMIS and Public Health requirements
Willingness and ability to learn. Good communicator able to problem solve.
Ability to lift heavy objects, stand and walk short distances throughout the day and to tolerate heat from kitchen area.
Excellent communication skills, patience empathy and flexibility
Must be free of communicable diseases, TB tested and Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance
Must be available every other weekend
Physical Demands:
Standing for long periods of time at food preparation tables
Walking short distances and maneuvering in tight spaces within kitchen and dining room
Pulling/pushing/lifting dish racks, food carts, bulk food items, etc. up to 50 lbs.
Reaching and lifting food items and kitchen tools from and to upper shelving up to 10 lbs at times
Memory work required to know dining room layout, table and section numbers and residents.
Dexterity required to open caps, pull spray triggers, open condiment packages, etc.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
