Field Excellence - Collecting Essential Infrastructure Data

Why this Role

Ready to work outdoors collecting essential infrastructure data? Join Encepta's dynamic field team and help build the networks that connect communities across Canada

We're seeking experienced Field Specialists for permanent positions in BC or AB. If you have a background in telecommunications field operations, GPS data collection, or infrastructure surveys — and want to take your career to the next level — this role is for you. Candidates must be willing to travel between project locations in both provinces.

You'll work on diverse projects, including GPS mapping, site inspections, and infrastructure surveys, applying your technical skills to produce high-quality, client-ready data.

In this collaborative environment, you'll tackle complex field challenges, maintain professional relationships with stakeholders, and have opportunities to mentor junior team members while continuously growing your expertise.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Reporting to the Manager, Operations, you will take ownership of field projects and contribute to their success through data collection and field operations. Work closely with Project Managers, designers, and other field specialists. Your responsibilities include

  • Conducting comprehensive site surveys and inspections using mobile devices and specialized tools
  • Collecting, validating, and processing GPS and infrastructure data with precision and attention to detail
  • Creating and maintaining accurate field documentation including measurements, observations, and asset information
  • Preparing client-ready deliverables such as spreadsheets, maps, and reports
  • Utilizing GIS platforms and specialized software to process and map telecommunications assets
  • Communicating professionally with stakeholders, contractors, and the public while representing Encepta
  • Mentoring junior team members and helping improve field collection processes

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 12–18 months, you'll be:

  • Independently conducting field data collection across multiple telecommunications projects
  • Operating GPS equipment and specialized tools confidently and accurately
  • Communicating professionally and effectively with stakeholders, property owners, and team members
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality
  • Adapting to changing project requirements and environments while maintaining high standards
  • Producing comprehensive, accurate documentation that meets project and client requirements
  • Expanding expertise across infrastructure mapping, utility surveys, and telecommunications assessments
  • Mentoring and guiding junior team members in field collection techniques

What We're Looking For

We're seeking experienced, motivated Field Specialists with a strong background in telecommunications infrastructure and field operations:

  • Technical Experience: Proven experience in telecommunications field operations, infrastructure surveys, and GPS data collection; skilled in GIS platforms and mobile data collection tools
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with field survey equipment, GPS technology, and telecommunications/utility systems
  • Project Coordination: Able to manage multiple priorities, plan and coordinate field activities, and maintain accurate documentation while meeting project deadlines
  • Communication & Professionalism: Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with stakeholders, contractors, and team members
  • Problem-Solving & Initiative: Detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of troubleshooting technical issues independently
  • Adaptability & Travel: Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and environments; willing to travel across BC and AB

What's In It for YOU?

At Encepta, we know that when you grow, we grow. This permanent role offers more than just a job, it's a chance to take ownership of your work, make a real impact, and advance your career in telecommunications field operations.

  • Real impact: Play a key role in expanding critical telecommunications infrastructure across BC, AB, and Canada
  • Career growth: Opportunities to advance into specialized technical roles, project leadership, or mentorship positions
  • Professional autonomy: Take ownership of projects, make field-level decisions, and contribute to process improvements
  • Flexible work arrangements: Balance between field work, office tasks, and remote assignments as projects require
  • Competitive compensation: Salary based on experience with performance-based incentives
  • Continuous learning: Access to industry certifications, advanced technical training, and mentorship from senior team members
  • Collaborative culture: Join a team that values safety, professionalism, and your contribution
