President, Fort McKay Investment Group (FMBIG) Position Summary:The President has overall responsibility for the management and leadership of the Fort McKay Business Investment Group ("FMBIG") and its business branches, including Fort McKay Landing LP, Fort McKay Group of Companies ("FMGOC"), and Fort McKay Oil Sands Development Company. The President , is accountable to, the FMBIG's Board of Directors ("the Board").Wholly owned by Fort McKay First Nation, FMBIG generates revenue to bring opportunity, resources, and capacity to the Fort McKay community.In discharging his or her responsibilities, the President will work to reserve and propel the Fort McKay community to better the lives of Indigenous peoples. The President will exercise care, diligence, and skill and will act honestly, ethically, and in good faith with a view to the best interests of FMBIG. In general, the President will:i) Consult with the Board to define the principal objective(s) of FMBIG;ii) Lead and manage the business and affairs of the FMBIG with the goal of achieving FMBIG's principal objective(s) in accordance with the policies, strategies, and mandates as established by the Board; and,iii) Discharge the duties imposed on the President by applicable lawsDuties and Responsibilities:The President has specific responsibility for the following:Strategic Direction, Operating, Capital and Financial PlansPresent annually to the Board a long-range and short-range strategic plan designed to achieve FMBIG's principal objectives. The plan will include the identification of the principal strategic and operational opportunities and risks of FMBIGs business; and will require approval by the Board for implementation.Ensure the implementation of all plans approved by the Board.Continually monitor and review FMBIG's progress towards the achievement of the goals established in the strategic, operating, and capital plans. Assess the need to revise and/or alter the management of FMBIG's operations, plans, and/or strategic direction.Identify the principal risks of FMBIG's business and take all reasonable steps to ensure the implementation of the appropriate systems to manage these risks.Keep the Board informed of FMBIG's progress and/or need to alter or revise the operations, plans, and/or strategic direction of FMBIG in consideration of any changing circumstances.Corporate GovernanceCommunicate with the Board regularly, attend Board meetings, and report to the Board on the achievement of operational and financial goals.Support the Board in carrying out its governance responsibilities: provide counsel, advice and recommendations in identifying and addressing issues of concern relative to the mission, vision and strategic plan of FMBIG.In consultation with the Board, establish the limits of management's authority and responsibility in conducting FMBIG's and its subsidiaries' business In consultation with the Board, hire and appoint all executive leaders who report to the President. Provide the Board (or delegated committee) with an annual evaluation of the performance of each executive leader who reports to the President.Communicate any proposed significant change in the management organization structure of FMBIG to the Board.Monitor and communicate overall human resources policies and procedures, including succession planning and compensation to the Board.People LeadershipInspire and lead in executing the vision, principles, values, strategic and operations plans for FMBIG and its business branches, as set out by the Board.In collaboration with executive leadership, ensure that highly talented people are recruited to staff FMBIG, and that progressive policies and programs are established to enable FMBIG to attract, motivate, and retain employees.Foster a corporate culture that promotes the highest ethical practices and encourages individual integrity, social responsibility, and a positive and respectful workplace culture.Cultivate a work environment that provides opportunities for employees to further develop and maintain skills and key competencies.In collaboration with executive leadership, establish performance goals, timelines, and results to be achieved.Ensure regular and annual performance evaluations for employees and consultants to ensure that work completed achieves stated goals.Ensure compliance with FMBIG's policies and practices and all applicable laws.Finances and ControlsDirect and monitor FMBIG's activities in a manner that ensures the assets of FMBIG are safeguarded and optimized.Monitor and communicate the appropriateness of FMBIG's capital structure to the Board.Ensure that the financial performance of FMBIG and its business branches is properly reported as required by applicable laws on a timely and regular basis.Ensure that FMBIG's financial statements are accurate, complete, and fairly represent FMBIG's financial position and performance.Implement and monitor processes and systems designed to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and internal control best practices, including information systems, financial information, and management of all required records and documentation.Stakeholder Relations and Social ResponsibilityIn consultation with the Board, establish the ethical, social, and environmental standards to be observed by all employees and contractors and use reasonable efforts to ensure processes are in place to monitor compliance with those standards.In partnership with the Board and delegated executive leadership, act as a primary spokesperson for FMBIG and oversee FMBIG'S interfaces with key stakeholders, including the public, industry partners, and government. Participate and/or lead engagement and negotiations with federal and provincial governments on matters related to regulatory and environment policy, consultation, and accommodation of aboriginal and treaty rights, scientific, financial, taxation, royalties, and technical issues.Represent the interests of FMBIG and maintain collaborative working relationships with all key stakeholders.Participate in overall negotiations for the economic development of Fort McKay Oilsands Lease 174C with potential partners, financial institutions, government agencies and others.In collaboration with executive leadership, ensure the development and implementation of community engagement frameworks for key projects and opportunities.Business Development and InvestmentProvide leadership and oversight of FMBIG's business development and investment activities, including its business portfolios, investments, and its Economic Diversification Strategy to ensure long-term financial growth and sustainability.Ensure the development and implementation of innovative and sound business development and investment strategies. Monitor investment portfolios, targets, and progress, and mentor senior management to ensure that targets are achievable.Qualification Requirements:Proven and extensive experience in organization management with focus on developing strategies, implementing vision, managing several technical disciples, and influencing external constituents.
