Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Tow Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting vehicles, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining the tow truck and related equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to handle stressful situations professionally. The Tow Truck Driver plays a vital role in ensuring efficient vehicle recovery and transportation services.
Duties
- Operate flatbed and tow trucks to recover and transport vehicles efficiently and safely
- Load and unload vehicles using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or other lifting devices
- Perform basic automotive diagnostics and repairs when necessary to ensure vehicle safety before transport
- Assist customers with vehicle issues, providing professional and courteous customer service
- Manage conflict situations calmly and effectively, ensuring customer satisfaction
- Conduct routine inspections of tow trucks and equipment to ensure proper functioning
- Maintain accurate records of all towing activities, including time logs and vehicle details
- Follow all safety protocols and traffic laws during operations
- Assist with other mechanical tasks or repairs as needed, utilizing mechanical knowledge and mechanic experience
Requirements
- Valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record
- Experience operating tow trucks, especially flatbeds, is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge and automotive repair experience are highly desirable
- Ability to perform manual transmission driving and operate forklifts if necessary
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to manage conflict professionally
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and load & unload procedures
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and handle physically demanding tasks
- Excellent driving skills with experience in commercial driving environments
- Prior experience with automotive diagnostics or mechanic work is a plus
