About your team: 

At Centrica Business Solutions, we're proud to partner with over 7,000 organisations globally – helping them to balance planet, with profit. We build, operate and maintain onsite, large-scale energy assets like Solar PV and Combined Heat and Power – to help businesses to save the planet and save money. We're also transforming the UK's energy landscape by partnering with landowners and developers to build a 900MW portfolio of new grid-scale solar farms and battery storage assets.

Centrica Power is a leading energy infrastructure company in the UK and Irish market with energy assets across conventional and flexible generation, renewable energy, energy storage and nuclear. Our nuclear portfolio, is ~6GW and our share is 20% ~ 1.2 GW.  At Present, there is 1 PWR reactor and ~4 AGR. For the rest of our Power portfolio, across the UK & Ireland, we have c.£2bn gross capital deployed, over 600MW in operation and a further 500MW in construction.

The vision is to be a world leading flexible power asset business that energises a greener, fairer future and delivers material growth for the Centrica Group and in turn, superior shareholder returns. This is coupled with aspirations to spend close to £3.bn over the next 5 years, in aid of Centrica's green investment growth strategy and continuing to build a Power business unit of materiality and significance in Centrica's overall growth plan. As such, we believe nuclear will play a fundamental role in Centrica's overall investment ambitions.

We are looking for a Commercial Analyst who will form part of the Centrica Nuclear Team to support our commercial strategy, assessing delivery and associated commercial risks of nuclear projects and conducting due diligence.

This role involves identifying market opportunities, developing financial models, completing appropriate commercial appraisal, managing key partnerships, and ensuring the commercial viability of future Nuclear projects.

About the role: 

Market Analysis & Development

  • Support our growth strategy for the Nuclear business by identifying new opportunities/ partnerships across the nuclear spectrum, providing commercial due diligence and instigating / validating future investments.

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to capitalize on opportunities in Nuclear sector.

  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, understand the competitive landscape and potential growth areas.

  • Negotiate and secure commercial agreements, contracts, and partnerships with key stakeholders, including suppliers and technology providers.

  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics to track the success of commercial strategies and projects.

  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on market developments, project status, and commercial performance.

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead the commercial aspects of Nuclear project development, ensuring projects are financially viable and aligned with strategic goals.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, legal, and regulatory, to drive project success from concept to execution.

  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including Nuclear partners, financial institutions, Legal Counsel and Regulatory Affairs.

Financial Modelling and Analysis

  • Develop and maintain financial models to assess the profitability and risk of potential Nuclear projects.

  • Perform due diligence and financial analysis to support investment decisions and commercial negotiations.

Regulatory and Policy Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and advocate for favorable policy changes to support commercial objectives.

Here's what we're looking for:  

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in finance, engineering or STEM related discipline

  • Experience in commercial strategy, business development, and strategic planning

  • Proven track record of developing and executing commercial contracts and working with a project team

  • Experience in presenting material to Senior Management

  • Excellent financial acumen and experience with financial modelling and analysis

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

  • High level of integrity, strategic thinking, and attention to detail

  • Demonstrable experience of applying a growth mindset to deliver significant and sustainable improvements in business performance, and revenue enhancement.

  • Ability to operate and drive opportunities to work as 'one team' with the broader Centrica Group, establishing clear 'ownership'

  • Evidence of applying a commercial mindset to an operational environment
