SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING - Community Resource Supervisor
New Directions is a social service agency offering a wide range of resources and services that foster people's hopes and dreams and their communities.
Supported Independent Living (S.I.L.) is one of the many services offered by New Directions. S.I.L. provides independent living supports to people who may have intellectual disabilities and/or mental health issues, and who experience barriers to living independently in the community.
The Community Resource Supervisor acts as the primary point of contact for the Community Resource Workers operating within Supported Independent Living. Responsible for providing supervision and evaluation, the Supervisor oversees the development of staff teams in Supported Independent Living. The Community Resource Supervisor engages with the Supported Independent Living leadership team in the planning, consultation and implementation of various projects and initiatives within the service area.
Responsibilities:
- Fostering positive, respectful and non-judgmental relationships with individuals and their supports.
- Develops, initiates, and implements programming, both facility and community based.
- Oversees work placement schedules and operations for yard care work experience program.
- Provides direct support to people as needed, either in the Resource Centre or in the community.
- Ensures staff responsibilities are effectively carried out
- Lead the supervision, evaluation, and performance management of Community Resource Workers
- Maintains standards for administration and documentation, aligned with best practice and appropriate risk management.
- Point person for community resources. Specifically related to the needs of the people supported (housing, job training, addiction, parenting, cultural opportunities).
- Participating in the on-call rotation.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in the adult disability services sector (or related field).
- Post-secondary education (diploma) in Disability & Community Support from a recognized post-secondary institution. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Previous supervisory experience, while maintaining the ability to work independently on projects and independent tasks.
- A demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures and traditions.
- Demonstrated organization and time management skills, with an attention to detail with record keeping and administrative tasks.
- Proven ability to foster, maintain, and have professional effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, Work, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
- Required to sit, stand, and walk; and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Required to maintain lawn care equipment.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License and access to a vehicle
- Fluency in American Sign Language is considered an asset.
The salary range for this 70-hour bi-weekly position is $23.63 to $30.71 per hour (equivalent to $43,006.60 to $55,892.20), depending on education and/or experience. This position is eligible for a full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan).
The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record Check, Adult/Child Abuse Registry and Prior Contact Check and must supply a current driver's safety rating.
