ABOUT US:

Since 2009, Gowest has expanded its land holdings in the North Timmins Gold Project ("NTGP") area to cover a total of 109 square km in the Timmins gold camp, with much of the additional lands being located along the same geological structures – along the largely undeveloped Pipestone Fault, believed to be a splay off the prolific Porcupine-Destor Fault, which has produced the majority of the 145 million ounces of gold produced historically along the Abitibi-Greenstone belt – that host Gowest's Bradshaw Gold Deposit (formerly Frankfield East) as well as a number of other gold showings.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager of HR, Health, Safety, Training & Security, the Payroll and HR Administrator plays a key role in supporting day-to-day Human Resources functions, with a focus on accurate and timely payroll administration, HR data management, and employee lifecycle coordination. This position works closely with site leadership and the Manager of HR, Health, Safety, Training & Security to ensure smooth execution of HR and payroll processes using ADP platforms (Workforce Now, HRIS, Recruitment).

This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a collaborative environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll Administration

  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule through ADP Workforce Now.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, benefits, and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, tax laws, and company policies.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and complete all year-end activities such as T4s and ROEs.
  • Respond to payroll-related employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Human Resources Administration

  • Support HRIS data entry, maintenance, and reporting in ADP.
  • Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding, including documentation, benefits enrollment, and orientations.
  • Maintain up-to-date personnel files and training records in compliance with company and legislative standards.
  • Assist with recruitment activities through ADP (job postings, applicant tracking, scheduling interviews).
  • Support administration of employee benefits, training programs, and performance management processes.
  • Prepare and maintain HR-related reports, metrics, and documentation for audits or internal reviews.

General Administration

  • Provide administrative support to the Manager of HR, Health, Safety, Training & Security and leadership team as needed.
  • Participate in HR projects, policy updates, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in Safety and Training projects, procedure updates, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote confidentiality, professionalism, and positive employee relations at all times.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in payroll and HR administration, preferably in an industrial or mining setting.
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now (payroll, HRIS, and recruitment modules) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and payroll compliance standards.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • The role is located at the Bradshaw Gold Project, which is approximately 50 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, Canada.
  • The ideal candidate for the role will work a schedule of 4 days on and 3 off, 10-hour days. Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.
