Job Description:

Join our Group Retirement Savings Client Service Centre team at either 1 York overlooking the Toronto Harbour with direct PATH access to Union Station or our Montreal's Metcalfe office; the original and historic Sun Life building.

This role is hybrid (once per week in office)

As a licensed Financial Services Consultant (FSC) your work will directly contribute to our mission of helping clients achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.  As a member of our Client Relationship team, you will support Sun Life clients with their wealth management needs. Your objective is to provide comprehensive portfolio reviews, assist with retirement planning and advise clients on financial decisions while helping them achieve their financial goals.  You will be tasked with strengthening client relationships, while achieving service & sales targets. 

Licensing requirement:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Valid and active Life Insurance License (LLQP) or Insurance of person license in Quebec (PQAP) or

  • Willingness to obtain LLQP within 60 days

Main accountabilities:

  • Proactively call existing Sun Life clients that have a Group Retirement Savings (GRS) plan & Group Insurance Benefit (GB) plan to establish a relationship where the objective is to educate members on their investments, benefits, and assist with product enrolment.

  • Consult with clients by providing investment and protection advice related to their financial needs, including savings, retirement income and insurance. 

  • Partner with clients to be 'retirement ready', through the use of financial planning tools. Ensure all clients maintain an updated plan in order to achieve personal financial goals.

  • Review portfolio investments, product options, savings goals, and assist with asset consolidation.

  • Create an investment risk assessment profile for clients.  This will support them in aligning their investments to their desired risk tolerance.

  • Contribute to sales and service targets by demonstrating to clients the value of their benefits available to them through their employer plans and assist with payroll deduction set ups, lump sum contributions and asset consolidation.

  • A passion for building relationships and creating amazing client experiences

  • Experience with selling and supporting clients with investment, savings products 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

  • Ability to quickly build rapport and relationships with clients over the phone or video conferencing

  • Strong listening skills and the ability to ask probing questions to understand needs

  • Possess an owner's mindset in order to build strong client experiences and loyalty, while contributing within a fast-paced evolving team

  • Ability to be agile and effectively manage changing priorities or processes

  • Self motivated and have the ability to work independently

  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC)- asset

  • Canadian Investment Fund Course (IFIC)- asset

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation or Financial planner designation (IQPF)- asset

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
