Job Title: Sr Technical Architect

About this Role
Global Commercial Fire, a business unit of Kidde Global Systems, is seeking a highly accomplished Part‑Time Engineering Fellow to serve as a Senior Technical Architect and specialized consultant supporting our global fire protection systems portfolio. This role is designed for a seasoned expert who can provide high‑value technical leadership on a flexible, part‑time basis—with a minimum commitment of 8 hours per week—while influencing the architecture and performance of next‑generation fire detection and suppression platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on the architecture and technical requirements for a next‑generation fire communication protocol.
- Provide expert guidance on timing models, deterministic behavior, device polling, and fault‑tolerance strategies.
- Recommend embedded‑system constraints and RTOS considerations to ensure protocol feasibility and reliability.
- Review and refine interface specifications, message structures, and error‑handling approaches.
- Assess existing fire‑industry protocols and advise on innovations and gaps for next‑gen development.
- Participate in design reviews and early validation efforts in an advisory capacity.
- Mentor engineering teams on protocol design principles and safety‑critical communication patterns.
Basic Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
- 15+ years of experience in embedded systems design, real‑time operating systems (RTOS), or safety‑critical firmware development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep technical knowledge of fire detection, alarm, or suppression systems, including communication architectures and life‑safety regulatory requirements.
