Cobble Beach Golf Links is located in Kemble ON, which is 10 minutes north of Owen Sound. We are a community based; award-winning, four-season resort that includes a Doug Carrick designed golf course overlooking beautiful Georgian Bay. The links style course is consistently ranked within Score Golf's Top 100 Courses in Canada. Our Turf Department's responsibilities extend into the year-round maintenance of properties, community landscaping, tennis courts, an ice rink, 18km of trail systems and a 200ft dock that is situated next to Cobble Beach's iconic lighthouse. The property is also host to the annual Cobble Beach Concours d'Elegance, which resembles the world-famous Pebble Beach Concours. The Concours is an event that displays prestigious vehicles on the golf course to be admired and judged. Our Turf Department is instrumental in distributing hundreds of hours effectively to ensure proper execution of the Concours event.

Job Description

Cobble Beach is currently receiving applications for the Second Assistant Superintendent position. The Second Assistant Superintendent will be a junior member of the team and report directly to the Site Superintendent. The candidate will be an integral part of a team-oriented department that takes great pride in their ability to consistently work together to produce exceptional playing conditions and to meet or exceed property maintenance standards. • Be an active, enthusiastic member of the team and operation.
• Partake in all aspects of golf course maintenance and improvement work.
• Assist with residential property maintenance/improvements and the upkeep of common amenities (tennis, beach club, dock, trails, parks, etc.)
• Be involved with the training of staff members.
• Maintain compliance with safety, environmental and any other regulatory legislation.
• Take a leadership role in managing crews, ensuring high standards of execution.
• Support record keeping including chemical applications, property scouting and labour and inventory reports.
• Assist in the unique, year-round workload of the Cobble Beach Turf Department including winter snow removal operations which involves municipal road contracts, laneway contracts, trail grooming and ice rink maintenance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years of progressive turf or golf course maintenance experience preferred.
• The successful candidate will have a professional and positive attitude and be committed to a supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication skills – written, oral and listening.
• Possess or willing to obtain an Ontario Landscape Exterminators Licence and IPM agent status.
• Valid Ontario G Licence.
• Experience with operating light and heavy-duty equipment.
• Chainsaw safety training and experience is an asset.
• Experienced with irrigation repair and component trouble shooting.

Salary will be based off of the successful candidate's level of education and experience they bring to the team.
