Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technologist Assistant to join our general practice team. In this role, you will support Veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Technologists in providing high-quality care to animals while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for both pets and their owners. The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in animal health and welfare, along with a strong and committed work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by restraining animals and preparing necessary equipment.

  • Perform basic animal husbandry, including feeding, walking, cleaning kennels, and providing general daily care to ensure animal comfort and well-being.

  • Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care, reporting any changes to the veterinary staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including laundry, sterilizing instruments and cleaning examination rooms, treatment areas, surgical suites and animals kennels.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' care and treatment plans.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments and managing patient files to ensure smooth clinic operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in animal care or animal science is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in a related animal-care role is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interest in animal care with a commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality treatment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle animals safely and confidently, demonstrating patience, empathy, and sound judgment.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to the fast-paced environment of a veterinary clinic.

Work Location: In person

Benefits: Are available after probation period, details will be discussed at time of interview

Shift: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am-7pm
