Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technologist Assistant to join our general practice team. In this role, you will support Veterinarians and Registered Veterinary Technologists in providing high-quality care to animals while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for both pets and their owners. The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in animal health and welfare, along with a strong and committed work ethic.
Responsibilities
Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures by restraining animals and preparing necessary equipment.
Perform basic animal husbandry, including feeding, walking, cleaning kennels, and providing general daily care to ensure animal comfort and well-being.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care, reporting any changes to the veterinary staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including laundry, sterilizing instruments and cleaning examination rooms, treatment areas, surgical suites and animals kennels.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' care and treatment plans.
- Assist in scheduling appointments and managing patient files to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in animal care or animal science is a plus.
- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in a related animal-care role is preferred but not required.
- Strong interest in animal care with a commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality treatment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to handle animals safely and confidently, demonstrating patience, empathy, and sound judgment.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to the fast-paced environment of a veterinary clinic.
Work Location: In person
Benefits: Are available after probation period, details will be discussed at time of interview
Shift: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am-7pm
