About the Role

We are looking for a full-time Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager at our Distribution Centres. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, FSQA, you will lead the practice of maintaining the highest level of food safety and quality of our products while working in close collaboration with the DC Operations team as well as cross functional stakeholders. This role will be based on-site.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage & lead FSQA Team (2 Supervisors, 1 Compliance Coordinator, and group hourly FSQA Technicians and Quality Control Associates) including hiring and performance management.
  • Provide FSQA team members site operation leads with necessary training, tools, and direction on food safety and quality issues.
  • Work in close collaboration with colleagues in Procurement, Production and FSQA across the country to ensure smooth operation of weekly fulfillment and delivery.
  • Be at the forefront of monitoring and tracking KPIs for trends, themes, and opportunities for improvement and implement pragmatic solutions.
  • Perform root cause analyses surrounding non-compliances, process deviations and customer complaints to determine corrective actions and preventive measures to be taken.
  • Prepare HelloFresh for third-party audits and regulatory inspections and act as point of contact for CFIA and local regulatory inspectors.
  • Ensure compliance to all FSQA protocols, including internal, regulatory and 3rd party standards across distribution centers and suppliers.
  • Lead and support local, national and global strategic FSQA initiatives, driving continuous improvement initiatives at all levels, including upstream with approved suppliers.

At a minimum, you have: 

  • Post-secondary education in Biological or Food Sciences, or equivalent work experience (at least 4 years) in a similar role within food manufacturing, assembly, or distribution.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and local government regulations with strong familiarity of the SFCA/R highly regarded.
  • In depth knowledge of food safety systems and HACCP principles and experience implementing and maintaining HACCP plans.
  • Background in food microbiology is a major asset.
  • Data driven approach towards problem solving.
  • Internal and external audit experience (CFIA, BRC, SQF).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, committed with a can-do flexible attitude.
  • Embrace change, challenge and work in an autonomous way.
  • Strong passion for food is a must
