About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee and manage the financial operations of three affiliated companies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, payroll, HST filings, and year-end corporate tax preparation. This role requires a hands-on professional who can work independently, maintain accuracy, and provide clear financial insight to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple companies, including A/P, A/R, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for review by the CEO.
  • Handle all payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
  • Oversee HST filings, remittances, and compliance with CRA requirements.
  • Coordinate and prepare year-end working papers for corporate tax filings.
  • Maintain and manage accounting systems within Xero, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date.
  • Develop internal controls and financial procedures to ensure integrity of financial information.
  • Support the CEO with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA designation (or in progress) preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial management.
  • Proven experience managing financials for multiple entities or group of companies.
  • Proficiency in Xero Accounting Software is a must.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards, payroll, HST, and corporate tax requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with executive management.
