We are a growing company managing multiple business entities and seeking a dedicated Financial Controller to lead our accounting function. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to contributing to the long-term success of our organization.

Position Overview

The Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations across multiple entities, manage a junior bookkeeper, and ensure accurate, timely reporting. This role requires strong full-cycle accounting experience, payroll expertise, WSIB handling, and solid knowledge of taxation. During peak periods, the ideal candidate will be willing to work overtime and go the extra mile to support the company's growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting operations for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, month-end and year-end close.
  • Manage and mentor a junior bookkeeper; review and approve their work.
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and cash flow analysis.
  • Handle payroll processing, remittances, and WSIB reporting.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure timely postings.
  • Coordinate with external accountants for year-end filings and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in tax planning.
  • Implement and improve internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Work overtime as needed during busy seasons.
  • Contribute to business growth by providing strategic financial insights.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience; experience with multi-entity management required.
  • Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
  • Payroll processing and WSIB experience is mandatory.
  • Solid understanding of taxation and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
  • Willingness to work additional hours during peak periods.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and committed to company growth.
