Job Description:

Department Overview

The Insurance Finance department is accountable for the major financial functions of TD Bank Group's General Insurance and Life & Health business, providing: business planning, financial analysis, measurement, valuation, and risk assessment services. The TDI Consolidation Finance team works closely with the business and centralized financial expertise (e.g., Chief Accountant's Group, Enterprise Decision Support, Finance Shared Services, etc.) to provide quality expertise and advice consistent with overall TD Bank Group's financial strategy and objectives.

The TDI Finance consolidation team provides Finance advisory support to the TDI businesses including General Insurance and Life & Health

Job Description:

The Senior Finance Analyst will report to the Senior Group Manager for TDI Finance Consolidation team. The position is responsible for developing and providing value-added management reporting and financial support to the Insurance business. The position will support both the Reporting and the Forecasting and Planning functions.

The role has a number of accountabilities which include, but not limited to the following:

  • Participate in the production of detailed monthly management reporting, insightful, drive-based variance analysis and reporting for Insurance business, including P&L and assets, as well as ensuring the development of ongoing process and quality enhancements
  • Develop design value-added management reporting to provide insightful interpretation of key business drivers underlying the business results, highlight key issues and make appropriate recommendations where required
  • Provide value-added financial analysis and advisory support to business partners to develop and execute strategic plans and provide support on ad hoc requests for business analysis. This includes the preparation of presentation decks to senior management, financial analyses and business cases, and conducting Finance presentations to business partners as required.
  • Participate in planning and forecasting, competitive reporting and risk processes for Wealth & Insurance Finance, collaborating with business partners and the various Insurance Finance teams to develop the quarterly forecasts /annual business plan, medium-term outlook, stress test results.
  • Act as subject matter expert on Insurance when dealing with other finance departments and other internal/external partners.
  • Effective interaction with the various stakeholders; ensuring well communicated and achievable timelines; and ensure Enterprise submission deadlines are met.
  • Be agile and problem solve in response to deviations to timelines and changing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with business / finance partners and other stakeholders; Effective interaction with the various stakeholders to ensure accuracy and to minimize duplication.

Job Requirements:

  • Professional accounting, and/or business qualification (MBA, CFA, CPA)
  • Hyperion 11 SmartView, OBI, would be an asset
    Insurance business knowledge will be an asset

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; strong business acumen.
  • Naturally inquisitive with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and priorities within a highly demanding environment.
  • Excellent aptitude for systems and technology with expertise in Excel, PowerPoint and Access
