We currently have an opportunity for a Cost Accountant to join our Finance team working from our Steinbach, MB office. As the cost account you will be responsible to review, update, and report on cost of goods manufactured by Barkman, assisting various departments in making informed decisions, and requiring regular communication with teams throughout the organization.

As a Cost Accountant, you would be responsible to:

  • Prepare month end journal entries to value inventory accurately using the Value Stream Costing approach
  • Perform costing analysis on products for internal partners as requested, which may include time studies, auditing and analyzing capacity, assisting with data maintenance and clean up, and understanding and refining cost drivers
  • Manage product pricing process such as monthly pricing updates and corrections, annual pricing spreadsheets, updating new price structures, and distributing price lists
  • Assist in a continuous improvement approach to costing
  • Assist other departments with reporting using various platforms
  • Other duties and projects as determined by business need

To qualify for this role, you will have:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, and/or equivalent experience
  • Previous cost accounting experience an asset
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various costing methodologies
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work, including research and analytical skills along with problem solving capabilities
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with the finance team and across departments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy, including electronic data storage, and advanced Excel skills
