Job Overview

We are seeking a vigilant and responsible Traffic Controller to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians around construction sites and paving projects. This role is vital in maintaining safety standards, directing traffic flow, and supporting construction operations. The ideal candidate will have experience around heavy equipment, paving, or construction environments, with a strong focus on safety and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Direct traffic safely around construction zones, paving sites, and other work areas using hand signals or signage.
  • Coordinate with construction teams to facilitate smooth operations and prevent accidents.
  • Set up and remove traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, and signs as needed.
  • Monitor the work zone for potential hazards and report issues promptly to supervisors.
  • Assist with ensuring proper safety procedures are followed.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members, drivers, and pedestrians to ensure safety protocols are adhered to at all times.
  • Support paving and construction activities by providing logistical support as needed.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in traffic control, paving, or construction is preferred.
  • Ability to operate basic traffic control devices and signage effectively.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures related to construction zones and roadwork.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and the public.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Must be attentive to detail and vigilant in maintaining safety standards throughout shifts.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, set up equipment, and assist with manual tasks as required.
  • Valid certifications for traffic control are mandatory.
  • BCDL is mandatory.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.51-$34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
