POSITION SUMMARY

The successful applicant will apply technical knowledge, skills and experience to the design of building automation solutions. They will interpret specifications and plans in order to implement effective control solutions. Whether working independently or as part of team, the BMS Designer will be engaged in a diverse range of tasks from project inception through to completion. They will have regular communication with contractors, engineers, customers and managers, while representing the company as a skilled professional.

REGULAR DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

· Interpret project specifications, mechanical/electrical schematics and sales documentation.

· Select field devices, controller hardware, software and specialized components to meet design requirements.

· Develop controls installation schematics in digital design software which accurately captures scope of work while adhering to project specifications and budgets.

· Submit and track materials order requests through appropriate channels in a timely manner.

· Coordinate graphical user interface requirements with Graphics Development team.

· Create cloud engineering sites to develop or modify system databases and control programming in GCL+.

· Configure building automation networks and software applications in live environments.

· Setup and commission field devices using calibrated instrumentation.

· Perform functional testing of control programming and verify system performance.

· Maintain accurate records of design changes throughout project and update as-built documentation.

· Provide client training and demonstrations.

· Regular, expedient communication with project team.

REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES

· Advanced and demonstrable organizational skills

· Excellent verbal, written and digital communication skills

· Dedicated, professional team player

· Self-starter who applies oneself with minimal supervision

· Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks across a variety of projects

· Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required

· Experience with 2D CAD (AutoCAD, Visio, etc) and PDF software is an asset

· Grade 12 education with a post-secondary technical degree or diploma in relevant field

· Programming experience (C/C++, Python) is required

· Prior experience in the HVAC industry is an asset

· Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude is required

· Valid driver's license required

· Citizenship or extended Canadian work permit

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
