Overview

We are seeking a reliable and adaptable Maintenance Worker to support daily building operations in our senior care home. This role focuses on basic repairs, general upkeep, safety checks, and coordinating help for larger issues. The ideal candidate has a broad understanding of building maintenance, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor repairs such as patching wall, tightening fixtures, basic painting, replacing light bulbs, clearing simple clogs, and repairing small items.
  • Identify issues that require licensed professionals (major plumbing, electrical, HVAC, structural repairs) and promptly notify management.
  • Maintain clean and functional common areas, hallways, storage rooms, and mechanical spaces.
  • Complete regular inspection of building systems, emergency lights, alarms, doors, appliances, and other facility equipment.
  • Keep accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, and work orders.
  • Ensure all safety standards and regulations are followed, maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff.
  • Perform basic outdoor work such as sweeping walkways, trimming small hedges, removing debris, lawn maintenance and monitoring.
  • Assist with snow removal, salt application, or seasonal upkeep as needed.
  • Cleaning interior and exterior windows on a scheduled basis.
  • Assist custodial staff with occasional cleaning tasks during high-need periods.
  • Contact and schedule professional contractors for major repairs or specialized work (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, etc.)
  • Escort contractors around the building and ensure work is completed to satisfaction,
  • communicate updates to management regarding repair plans, timelines, or safety concerns.
  • Respond to basic maintenance request form staff and residents with patience and professionalism.
  • Prioritize urgent needs especially those affecting resident safety or confort.

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of general building maintenance (painting, small repairs, basic plumbing fixes, simple electrical tasks like replacing switches or bulbs)
  • ability to recognize when issues require a licensed professional.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in senior care facilities preferred but not required.
  • Friendly and respectful attitude toward elderly residents.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
