How will you make an impact?

The Fireweed Institute exists to build a thriving Indigenous entrepreneurship ecosystem. We do things differently - we are looking for a proactive and community-rooted Program Facilitator to help implement and steward our Fireweed Indigenous Venture Accelerator program.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about entrepreneurship, with lived or professional experience in Indigenous contexts, and with an aptitude for group facilitation, sharing knowledge, partner coordination and community driven impact. The Facilitator guides learning experiences and sessions for our Accelerator, ensuring participants are engaged, partners are well coordinated, and the learning environment and weekly program delivery runs smoothly.

What will you work on?

Program Delivery

• Cultivating and maintaining a learning environment that feels engaging, safe, collaborative and values-driven for Venture Accelerator participants and delivery partners, utilizing trauma-informed best practices
• Serve as a point of contact for participants, answering questions, sharing resources, and supporting their experience.
• Coordinating and communicating session learning objectives, guest biographies, scheduling and other relevant program details to participants and delivery partners via email and other channels
• Managing by-the-minute details of online learning sessions with Accelerator participants and guest speakers, knowledge-keepers, instructors and industry experts.
• Proactively managing program schedules, lesson plans, and learning materials to ensure participants and delivery partners are well organized (have what they need when they need it).
• Engaging community partners and participants to ensure programming is culturally relevant and responsive to community needs.
• Co-deliver in-person learning intensives, facilitating hands-on, culturally integrated land-based learning activities

Program Support

• Support overall planning, coordination, and logistics of Accelerator programming.
• Assist with planning and logistics of in-person learning intensives delivered across Canada, including site and activity selection, local contractor engagement, transportation, food/nutrition planning etc.
• Support storytelling, evaluation, and reporting by capturing quotes, case studies, and feedback during events and workshops.
• Assist with contract coordination for instructors, facilitators, and Knowledge Keepers.
• Work with Program Manager and Evaluation team to ensure tracking systems for participation, budgets, evaluation components and feedback are integrated into program schedule and communication

Team Collaboration & Learning

• Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to continuous program learning and development.
• Attend a monthly in-person meeting at the Fireweed's Vancouver office.
• Participate in cultural and professional development opportunities offered by Fireweed Institute.

Required

• Located within a commuting distance of Vancouver**
• Enthusiastic interest in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, including business and investment
• Demonstrated experience as a group facilitator in Indigenous focused environments
• Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations.
• Experience coordinating programs, workshops, or community events.
• Technical aptitude with Zoom, Slack and Microsoft products
• Strong organizational skills, reliability, and comfort juggling multiple timelines and logistics.
• Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
• Ability to safely lift 50lbs/25kg (to assist with event setup, for example)
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Preferred

• Some post-secondary education or demonstrated experience in business, entrepreneurship, education, Indigenous governance, or a related field; or equivalent lived/professional experience
• Comfort with tools like Slack, Canva, Miro, project management tools (e.g., Asana), and basic design software.

** The Fireweed Institute is a hybrid-remote workplace. Accordingly, candidates for this role must be located within a reasonable commuting distance of Vancouver (approximately 2 hours) for regular monthly meetings. Please note that commute is distinct from travel.*

Pay: $78,000.00-$88,000.00 per year
