Pembroke Ontario, Canada County of Renfrew Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the Health & Safety and Wellness Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive and standardized health and safety plan across the corporation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a safer working environment for all employees. The Health & Safety and Wellness Coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of occupational health and safety programs (SDS, hazard identification, incident investigations, etc.). The Health & Safety and Wellness Coordinator will also assist in implementing wellness and return to work programs.

Responsibilitie

  • sDevelop, implement and maintain a standardized health and safety plan across the corporation, ensuring consistency and compliance with best practices and regulatory requirements
  • .Establishes and interprets policies on critical health and safety issue
  • sDevelop and deliver training programs to County and Lower Tier employees
  • .Ensure the corporation complies with all relevant health and safety regulations. Serve as liaison or point of contact for regulatory bodies, including the Ministry of Labour
  • .Assist the Employee Health Coordinator with case management, including return to work
  • .Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards in all work locations. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks
  • .Lead investigations into workplace incidents and accidents. Develop and implement corrective actions
  • .Develop and implement the corporate wellness programs, initiatives, and events for all Departments to continuously promote and support overall employee wellbeing
  • .Conduct site inspections
  • .Participate in the JHSC for all work units
  • .Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety. Follows all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act

.Qualification

  • sUniversity Degree or Post-Secondary diploma in Business Administration, Occupational Health and Safety Certificate and/or Risk Management, or equivalent
  • .First responder, Certified Safety Trainer, Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) Certification or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, an asset
  • .Three to five (3 – 5) years' experience in a similar position
  • .Knowledge of OHS Legislation, CSA Standards and related legislation and standards
  • .Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification Level 1 & 2, required (or obtaining
  • )First Aid, CPR & AED certified
  • .Must be fully knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, AODA legislation, and the Employment Standards Act
  • .Strong organizational, coaching, communication and interpersonal skills
  • .Self-motivated team player with a strong commitment to improving health, safety and wellness
  • .Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations
  • .Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • .Experience working in a unionized environment, an asset
  • .A valid driver's licence and ability to travel throughout the County of Renfrew
