Health and Safety Instructor

Position: Health & Safety Instructor (Working at Heights)

Employment: Full-time

Location: Ottawa, ON

Salary: $65,000-75,000 to start, DOE 

Worksite Safety Compliance Centre is looking to add another Instructor to our current training team, specifically for the delivery of our CPO-approved Working at Heights program. If you are a knowledgeable and experienced health and safety instructor who is passionate about construction safety education and keeping workers safe, this role is for you  

This Health & Safety Instructor will deliver training full-time at one of two locations in Ottawa. There may also be an opportunity for this instructor to train others on confined space entry, first aid and/or mobile equipment use (forklift and elevated work platforms). The position reports to the Manager, Instructor-Led Training. 

As a Health & Safety Instructor your key responsibilities are:

• Delivering engaging and informative Working at Heights training to job seekers, the general public and new and current members of the construction industry
• Evaluating participants through practical skills and written evaluation 
• Organizing, filing and submitting digital and hard copy participant records following training
• Participating in team meetings and instructor development workshops
  

The right candidate will have the following qualifications and experience: 

• 3+ years experience delivering training (Working at Heights program preferred)
• Background in construction management and/or other fall hazard-related industry 
• Work experience or certification in occupational health & safety preferred
  
• Forklift, mobile elevated work platforms and confined space entry and rescue considered an asset
• Active certification as a Red Cross First Aid Instructor considered an asset
  
• Strong interest educating people on the importance and value of health & safety training  
• Self-starter who is able to work independently, while also contributing to a team 
• Strong presentation and adult-engagement skills
• Valid Ontario's Driver Licence - occasional travel by car for work
• Able to legally work in Canada
