The Health and Safety Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring that all health and safety practices, policies, and regulations are effectively implemented as well as maintained across all areas. This position requires a proactive approach to maintaining a safe work environment for all employees while complying with provincial and federal regulations.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and Implement Safety Programs: Maintain, design, develop, and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programs that align with the company’s safety standards and regulatory requirements.Site Inspections: Conduct occasional site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Provide recommendations for corrective actions where necessary.Training & Education: Organize and lead safety training sessions for staff ensuring that all team members are well-versed in safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and proper equipment usage.Incident Reporting & Investigation: Lead investigations of workplace accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions. Document incidents, analyze root causes, and collaborate with management to implement corrective actions.Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all health and safety procedures comply with applicable local, provincial, and federal laws, including OHSA and other relevant regulations. Keep up to date with changes in safety legislation and industry standards.3rd party compliances: Ensure 3rd party compliance (ISNetworld, Cognibox, etc) is maintained and currentSafety Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on safety training, inspections, certifications, and incident reports. Ensure that documentation is accessible and easily retrieved during audits or inspections.Risk Assessments: Conduct hazard assessments and assist project managers in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies to ensure safe operations at each job site.Emergency Response Preparedness: Develop and regularly update emergency response plans, including evacuation routes, first aid procedures, and emergency contact information.Continuous Improvement: Work with management to continually improve the company’s safety culture by identifying trends, proposing solutions, and fostering a proactive safety attitude among all team members.Safety Equipment and PPE: Finally, oversee the proper use, maintenance, and replacement of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment across all job sites.EducationHigh School Diploma or GED (Required)Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferredExperience3-5 years of experience in health and safety coordination, preferably within the construction or mechanical contracting industryKnowledge of OHSA standards and other relevant safety regulationsCertificationsHealth and Safety certification is an asset.SkillsStrong knowledge of safety regulations, best practices, and industry standardExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and motivate teamsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteAdditionally, strong analytical and problem-solving skillsWhy Join Us?Competitive salary as well as benefits packageOpportunities for career growth and advancementA commitment to both workplace safety and employee well-beingBenefitsCasual dressCompany eventsCompany pensionDental careExtended health careOn-site parkingPaid time offRRSP matchVision careWork Location: In personClow Darling Limited is a leading mechanical contracting firm in Northwestern Ontario with a strong track record of providing high-quality plumbing, heating, HVAC, and process piping services to commercial, industrial, and residential clients.
