JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Technical Engineer Officer, Nuclear Sustainability Division.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Corporate Relations & Projects, this position is responsible for reviewing technical evaluations and reports, considerations and proposals, and community engagement as required in a number of major work areas, in an Ontario Power Generation, Nuclear (OPG,N) facility. Maintain instructions and procedures up to date, prepare reports, review proposals from external organizations. Participate in training programs as required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and execute plans to support projects.
  • Track and monitor engagement activities and project deliverables.
  • Maintain and update procedures: develop, revise and maintain departmental procedures in alignment with regulations, safety standards, and best operational practices; submit for review and approval.
  • Identify and address issues: Receive assignments or proactively identify procedural issues and opportunities, consult with staff to ensure procedures reflect current practices.
  • Budget Support: Gather and analyze data for departmental budget preparation, monitor budget variances, and report findings to the Supervisor.
  • Supervise Staff: Periodically oversee and direct staff involved in procedural activities, providing guidance, checking work, and offering instructions as needed.
  • Training and Development: Participate in and support training programs by attending courses, developing materials, delivering lectures, and evaluating trainees.
  • Procurement and Technical Support: Prepare specifications for purchasing, coordinate with procurement, and support installations for new equipment.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare technical and non-technical reports, conduct studies or investigations for process improvement, present findings, and respond to external and internal information requests.
  • Technical Evaluation and Collaboration: Provide technical advice, solve problems, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and Indigenous communities, recommend improvement, and assist in research and development initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires specialized training and experience or knowledge in the design, development, or operation of nuclear facilities, or in the manufacture/production of nuclear materials or components.
  • Experience in industrial environments related to design, development, operation, or maintenance of industrial systems and equipment is necessary.
  • Ability to solve complex problems, provide expert advice and guidance, and initiate developmental studies within nuclear facility contexts.
  • Conducts economic studies and evaluates components or materials related to nuclear facility projects.
  • Role involves collaborative work across various teams and departments within the organization.
  • Manages workplans, analyzes data, develops presentation, and utilizes Microsoft Office, Power BI, EBX and other OPG applications.
  • Possess a minimum of 2 years' relevant work experience.
