Care for Newcomers just happens to have an exciting opportunity for you

We're looking for a resourceful, fun and high energy individual to join our Childcare Program to:

  • Work during weekdays between the hours of 8:30am to 3:30pm, for a total of 25 hrs./week
  • Start November 17th, 2025, to March 31st, 2026, based on the program needs.
  • Hourly rate is $25/hr

A little about what you bring to Care for Newcomers:

  • Demonstrated sensitivity to children and understanding of the challenges faced by newcomers to Canada
  • Early Childhood Educator Certification Level 1.
  • First aid and CPR certification appropriate for children.
  • Clean Criminal record and Vulnerable sector check.
  • TB test administered.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with childcare staff, including active listening and effective coaching.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with parents whose first language is not English using clear language and cultural sensitivity.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel. A graphic design background would be an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be outgoing, friendly, courteous, assertive, objective, and fair.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to set priorities.
  • Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to interact with children of various ages and development.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

A little about what you'll do:

  • Oversee daily childcare operations.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and supervision of childcare workers.
  • Serve as the primary contact for parents.
  • Work closely with the ESL Assistant Manager.
  • Ensure accurate administration, reporting, and paperwork.
  • Report timesheets, expenses and performance concerns to the ESL Assistant Manager.
  • Provide support to the Lead Childminder and team.
  • Communicate with Childminding Monitoring Advisory and Support, Alberta Childcare Licensing and AHS as needed.
  • Act as childcare relief as needed.
