Community Support Worker

Job Summary:
As a Settlement Support Worker, you will work closely within a team to support a smooth transition into Canada for our newcomers. In consultation and with guidance from the Settlement Counsellors and Team Leader, you will provide interpretation services to clients in their language. You will interpret for them in orientation sessions and at various appointments. You will also teach life skills and provide hands-on learning to assist newcomers master the skills necessary to live successfully in Canada.
What This Job Requires:
Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, preferably Microsoft Excel
Experience working with newcomers to Canada is considered an asset
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search current within six (6) months
Child Intervention Record Check current within six (6) months

In addition to English, you should also be fluent in one or more of the following languages:

Compensation for this position begins at $20.92 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
