About the role

We're looking for an Underwriter II, Specialty Solutions, to join our growing team

What you'll do here:

  • Analyze requests for quotes, renewals and policy changes, and recommend solutions

  • Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies

  • Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company

  • Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events

  • Provide ongoing support in expanding the department, and make recommendations for process improvements

  • Rate and prepare quotes for new business and renewals

  • Handle policy transactions including renewals, endorsements and cancellations.

  • As directed, generate letters and memos to brokers from the system.

  • Support team members within Specialty Solutions as well as other divisions at Intact

What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an underwriter in either commercial lines or personal lines

  • Candidates must have experience and proficiency in working in a high-volume environment with a large number of cases to handle

  • Strong knowledge in Excel is an asset

  • Analytical, self-motivated and strive to deliver at a high standard

  • Initiative and ability to work under pressure

  • Strong team player, with outstanding collaboration and communication skills

  • Can develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers

  • Interested in and stay up to date on business trends or other developments impacting our industry

  • CIP designation or working towards it

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
