Schedule: Monday to Friday

Delivery: Onsite, in-person instruction

Vancouver Churchill College is seeking a qualified Instructor for the Caregiver (Home Support Worker) Certificate Program. This is a weekday, onsite teaching position based in Burnaby. The instructor will teach scheduled classes Monday through Friday and deliver the program according to the curriculum approved by the College.

All course materials will be provided. The instructor is required to create curriculum and should be confident teaching from prepared lessons and supporting students' learning progress.

Minimum Qualifications (PTIB-Compliant)

Applicants must meet one of the following:

Option A:

  • Hold a certificate, diploma, or post-secondary degree in caregiving, health care, community support, or a related field; and
  • Have at least two years of full-time work experience in a related occupation; and
  • Have prior teaching, training, or instructional experience (adult education preferred).

OR

Option B:

  • Have at least ten years of full-time work experience in a caregiving or health-related occupation; and
  • Have relevant teaching or facilitation experience.

Note: Instructor experience alone does not qualify as industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in private training institutions or adult education settings
  • Familiarity with lesson planning and learner support
  • Understanding of caregiver training requirements in BC
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to established lesson plans

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver onsite, in-person instruction
  • Be able to create the curriculum and weekly lesson plan
  • Support student learning and maintain instructional continuity
  • Record attendance and provide basic feedback to students as required
  • Communicate promptly with administration regarding any teaching concerns

Position Details

  • Regular weekday teaching role
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday
  • All lesson plans and materials provided
  • Competitive hourly compensation, based on experience

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
