Job Summary:

The Meat Cutter is responsible for receiving and processing product and facilitating the appropriate shipping of stock to the store locations. Staff are also responsible for providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment.

Responsibilities:

  • The meat cutter is responsible for receiving, storing, processing, weighing, pricing, and shipping of meat department products.

  • Cuts, trims, wraps and prepares meat and meat products to department standards using the meat wrapper, band saw, knives and meat grinder.

  • Delivers excellent, friendly, customer service.

  • Maintains a clean, neat and organized workplace and shelf/display space with appropriate labelling.

  • Performs closing/cleaning duties which can vary from compost and trash disposal, to general cleaning and storing of equipment

  • Communicates information to the Meat department supervisors, so the department can respond as necessary.

  • Adheres to all operational, health & safety, and organic compliance policies and procedures when the above responsibilities are performed.

  • Any other job-related tasks as required by the Meat Facility Program Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Previous meat room and customer service experience an asset

  • Must have a flexible schedule that may includes evenings and weekends

  • Positive customer service attitude

  • Dexterity to lift and maneuver loads of up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work in close quarters and perform repetitive tasks in varying environmental conditions.

  • Must wear CSA-approved steel toed shoes while on duty
