The Quality Assurance Technician supports the Quality Assurance team in ensuring that products, processes, and facilities meet internal quality standards and comply with Health Canada regulations, Good Production Practices (GPP) and Good Agricultural Collection Practices (GACP). This role involves performing inspections, environmental monitoring, sampling, documentation review, and reporting, while working closely with cultivation and processing teams to support continuous improvement and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Review, update, and maintain quality documentation, records, and logs.
  • Conduct routine inspections of products, facilities, and production processes.
  • Perform in-process controls and environmental monitoring, including equipment swabbing, microbial testing, air monitoring (settling plates), and water testing.
  • Collect product samples for testing and manage retention samples.
  • Develop, complete, and maintain inspection and audit reports.
  • Verify that goods and products comply with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Audit sanitation schedules and cleaning records and liaise with third-party service providers to ensure documentation is current and complete.
  • Audit equipment records related to preventive maintenance and calibration, including balances, pH and EC probes, and filtration systems.
  • Compile testing data and assist with the preparation of quality and trend reports.
  • Provide quality-related training and ongoing support to operations staff.
  • Assist with the preparation of lot release documentation and reports.
  • Monitor adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements across operations.
  • Escalate quality or safety deviations to the QA Manager in a timely manner.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned by the QA Manager.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education or technical certification in a related field is an asset.
  • Experience:
    Previous experience in quality control, quality assurance, or a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use testing, inspection, and monitoring equipment accurately.
  • Working knowledge of Health Canada regulations and Good Production Practices (GPP) is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
