POSITION OVERVIEW

The Production Technician is responsible for fabricating and finishing high-quality signage with precision, using the tools and equipment of our production department. This role requires a strong understanding of production processes, materials, equipment, and quality standards, along with the ability to manage timelines effectively. The Production Technician also oversees aspects of project management for department-specific orders, ensuring each project is completed efficiently and to the highest standard.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Production Duties

  • Departmental organization (equipment, materials, work-in-progress, work orders, etc.)
  • Provide accurate status updates on projects to the Production Coordinator
  • Develop, create, and adhere to processes and procedures
  • Participate in managing department inventory
  • Update organizational documents as required, such as the Purchase Order Log, etc.
  • Efficiently operate all department resources, such as the laminator, Keencut, vinyl application/removal tools, drill press, grommet machine, heat welder, paint supplies, bench router, table saw, etc.
  • Maintain the operating integrity of department equipment and associated parts
  • Assist with installations, deliveries, and pick-ups when necessary
  • Ensure the ordering of material is from approved sources
  • Look for new and innovative uses for technology in the production of signage

Team Participation Duties

  • Participate in staff meetings and initiatives
  • Participate in shop cleanliness and organization initiatives
  • Utilize a task management system to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly objectives are met
  • Adhere to all corporate policies and assist in their development
  • Offer support and assistance in other areas of the business as required

Training and Development

MMS encourages and funds team members to pursue skill development, including attending training courses, taking college or university classes, participating in industry or association conferences and webinars, and attending vendor training events.

Location and Hours of Work

  • This position is based out of our shop at 1624 Michael Street in Ottawa.
  • Full-time positions are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible start times between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m.
  • Part-time positions offer flexible hours and schedules, to be discussed during the hiring process.
