Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. Our Safety Information Management Team is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Application Specialist to lead the performance evaluation of the application in relation to Metrolinx' safety management system, evaluates and provides strategic direction on enhancements to improve program performance, and is accountable for the integrity of the data as it is shared with the organization.

What will I be doing?

  • Provides subject matter expertise on the Enterprise HSE application in order to provide direction, implement, and/or maintain application performance.
  • Establishes, configures, and ensures the soundness of application system profiles including the security matrix, system access, functional roles, and user permissions.
  • Receives, investigates, and evaluates issues to direct to the correct action owner.
  • Primary point of contact with I&IT technical teams and/or vendor to ensure that technical issues and enhancements are resolved.
  • Develops plans and/or resolves functional issues as raised by the business or external contractors.
  • Receives, investigates, evaluates, and develops plans in collaboration with stakeholders to support application feature rollouts, enhancements, and new feature / functionality requests. Maintains documentation of the process, impact and mitigations to business and system impacts, decisions, and plans. Presents business case through IT Change Management enhancement process.
  • Leads, participates, and coordinates business unit SMEs / Super Users in the business UAT and system testing activities of business process and integrations for enhancement and quarterly system releases.
  • Possesses intimate knowledge of application business rules, workflows, lookup tables and data connections to other systems to provide direction and/or implement performance improvements while maintaining the integrity system configuration and functioning.
  • Directs and/or builds queries, reports, and dashboards for business users to access and view EHS data; provides enterprise-level analysis of safety data to support monthly business reporting from Safety & Security.
  • Build, manage and improve the data automation (ETL queries, data models) to facilitate easy/self-serve reporting for Business Stakeholders to perform analysis and reporting.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Demonstrate experience in software development and implementation experience required.
  • Demonstrate experience in HSE system implementation, specifically with Medgate/Cority.
  • Understanding of the connections between the EHS suites in Cority would be an asset.
  • Hands-on experience in software coding (XML/HTML).
  • Functional understanding of data management, data analysis and integration.
  • Experience in gathering and documenting user requirements for feature enhancement and new functionality.
  • Demonstrate years of work experience in the field(s) of Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Risk Management (Operational or Enterprise) would be considered an asset.
  • Project management experience required with an understanding of the Agile methodology being an asset
