Job Overview

The Parking Enforcement & Operations Staff play a crucial role in maintaining order and safety in public parking areas. This position involves monitoring parking regulations, issuing citations for violations, and ensuring compliance with local laws. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a commitment to public service, contributing to a positive community environment.

Duties

  • Enforce parking regulations by patrolling assigned site(s), issuing warnings and/or violation notices in accordance with parking enforcement guidelines, redirecting parkers to appropriate parking areas
  • Conducts vacant stall counts as required at various times of the day to monitor traffic volumes and identify opportunities to improve parking services
  • Check and replenish change and paper stock in automated parking payment equipment and clean equipment solar panels as needed
  • Report all equipment failures to management
  • Prepare and maintain required records, including logs of parking enforcement activities, and record of contested citation
  • Clean up debris from locations
  • Put up signs (e.g. signposts, cones) for vehicles and passersby
  • Perform landscaping, such as grass cutting, and weed whipping & spraying
  • Snow clearing during the winter (Must be competent using Snow Clearing Equipment)

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with the public.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Attention to detail to accurately observe and report violations.
  • Basic knowledge of local parking regulations is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in potentially stressful situations.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (required)
  • Clean Driver's Abstract (required)
  • 3 Years of Continuous Auto Insurance in Alberta (required)
