School Overview: Wheatley School is a co-educational independent day school located in St. Catharines, Ontario. Since 1986, the school has been inspiring students to become lifelong learners. Wheatley is an Accredited Montessori School (serving ages 18 months to Grade 4) and an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School (Grades 5 to 8).

Position Overview: The Human Resources Manager oversees recruitment, onboarding, and various HR functions, ensuring efficient operations within a positive work environment.

Work Schedule: Part time

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education Administration, or a related field.
  • HR certification (e.g., CHRP, SHRM) is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Federal and provincial labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and professionalism.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working in the school setting is a benefit
  • Minimum of one year working experience

Key Responsibilities:

1. Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Develop job descriptions and post job openings on relevant platforms.
  • Screen and select candidates to be interviewed by the Head of School/Level Coordinator.
  • Conduct background checks and verify references.
  • Oversee the onboarding process to ensure smooth integration of new staff members.

2. Employee Relations & Performance Management:

  • Review the staff handbook and orient staff on any updates annually.

4. Time Off & Break Time Management:

  • Track and manage time-off requests, including sick leave and personal leave.

5. Compliance & Policy Implementation:

  • Maintain up-to-date employee records and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Implement HR policies in alignment with federal and local employment laws.
