School Crossing Guard

Are you looking for some part-time hours and rewarding work? We are looking to hire School Crossing Guards for Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham who can safely coordinate the flow of children with the flow of vehicular traffic to ensure safe crossings to and from school.

• Centre St/Lilly St
• Danielle Gate/Dayfoot St.

Tottenham

• Father F.X. O'Reilly Catholic School
• Queen St/Dillane St

Additionally, we are also looking to fill several Casual Crossing Guard positions (on-call basis, no guarantee of hours). If you are interested in this rewarding role, but are not able to commit to regular hours, please apply as a Casual Crossing Guard.

 

Qualifications:

• Ability to react quickly should a vehicle enter the crosswalk when children are crossing.
• Be able to judge when to safely stop traffic to allow children to cross.
• Good Interpersonal skills when dealing with children and parents.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of mental concentration, with visual and hearing ability to recognize traffic at a safe distance.
• Ability to display a school crossing stop sign (weighing approximately two pounds) in an upright position so that it is visible to vehicular traffic approaching from all directions while extending the other arm parallel for one minute or longer on a frequent basis.  
• Ability to walk children safely across busy streets/intersections and react safely and decisively to traffic conditions.
• Each Crossing Guard will be required to supply a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check prior to starting in the position.

The successful candidate must have the ability to align with established goals and objectives and is able to create/follow plans and processes accordingly to deliver task and goal completion to a high standard. Pay Rate: $25.02, plus 4% vacation pay and optional enrolment in OMERS pension plan
