The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for a Supervisor, Municipal Law Administration, to join our rapidly growing team.

Reporting to the Manager of Municipal Law Enforcement, this position is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and supervision of the Town's Crossing Guard Program. Additionally, the role manages the administration of the Administrative Monetary Penalty System (AMPS) and other administrative services for the business unit. Provides coaching to staff and ensures staff are adequately trained to fulfill their duties. To act in the capacity of the Supervisor, Municipal Law Enforcement as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides supervision, coaching and mentoring. Leads the staff of the Crossing Guard and AMPS programs to meet performance standards for the delivery of programs and services by the Business Unit.
  • Oversee the Town's Crossing Guard Program, including recruitment, selection and any disciplinary matters. Assists the By-law Services Assistant with coordination of onboarding/training, shift scheduling and shift replacement, as well as Health and Safety monitoring of Crossing Guards.
  • Oversee the Town's AMPS program, ensure consistency and fairness in penalty assessment and collaborate with the Finance and Legal departments to support the effective collection of municipal fines and penalties.
  • Provides assistance to the Manager with the coordination and implementation of annual and seasonal work plans. Supervises all assigned projects on an ongoing basis. Meets the goals, objectives and the determined performance metrics of the Department.
  • Assist the Manager with proactive reviews of the Town's by-laws and recommends amendments and new by-laws to reflect changes. Addresses issues as required. Authors Council reports as required for review of Manager. Attends Council Meetings at the request of the Manager to present reports and/or to answer queries regarding reports. Prepares detailed reports as requested by the Manager or Clerk/Director of Administration Services on various matters related to Town duties, services provided by the Business Unit and issues for management, committees or tribunals.

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary Education in Public Administration, Law Enforcement, Municipal
  • Management, or a related field and/or diploma in Police Foundations or Law and Security
  • Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Certifications MLEO-C and Certified Property Standards Officer CPSO.
  • Requires valid Class G license in good standing.
  • Ability to submit a Vulnerable Sector Check
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • 4-5 years' experience in a municipal enforcement position with at least 1 year experience in a supervisory role.

The successful candidate will provide clear direction and open communication with employees and address employee issues promptly, objectively and respectfully. Salary: $ 86, $107,937.83, plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan

Hours: 35 hours per week

Location: Town Hall, 24 Tupper Street West, Alliston
