Position Description

Title: Industrial Electrician

Department: Maintenance

Location: Cornwall

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Position Overview: The Industrial Electrician plays a key role in supporting production by installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment and control systems. This position serves as the primary point of contact for resolving electrical issues related to production lines, machinery, and facility systems, helping to ensure safe operations, minimal downtime, and optimal performance.

Principle Accountabilities

Perform routine testing of electrical systems to ensure efficiency and reliabilityConduct scheduled maintenance on electrical equipment and devicesClean electrical contacts, circuit boards, and related componentsUpgrade outdated wiring and electrical devices as neededAssist with tasks related to electrical systems and controlsTroubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in machinery, systems, and fixturesIdentify and correct electrical faults to minimize downtimeRemove and replace defective electrical components as requiredInstall new machinery and ensure proper electrical setupEducate production staff on preventative maintenance best practicesPrepare and maintain accurate maintenance reports and documentationRecommend future electrical repairs and system improvementsCreate and submit requests for necessary electrical parts and suppliesPromote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that supports teamwork and mutual respectPerform other duties as assigned by the manager

Qualifications and Requirements

Red Seal Certification (Interprovincial Qualification) is requiredMinimum 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is requiredExperience with PLC systems is an assetExperience with work planning and continuous improvement is an assetStrong manual dexterity and electrical aptitudeAbility to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematicsProven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical malfunctionsComfortable working under tight deadlines with minimal supervisionStrong problem-solving and critical thinking skillsDemonstrates a solid understanding of risk managementWillingness and ability to work flexible shiftsStrong mathematical skills
